Not even approaching death could rouse her to live.
Made for a project at school on the 7 Deadly Sins. This is the fifth of the 7-part series. These pictures actually go together in one long picture (42 inches long) that has already been finished...I'm just splitting them up for submitting here. Symbolism Why the color blue? Because I think sloth is more for those who are depressed and sad...not because of some medical condition...but because they sit there in self-pity. I wanted to illustrate that they have no desire to get up from their bed in the morning, to do anything at all (even if it's something they'd enjoy)...they have absolutely no motivation. I'm poking fun at the people that put themselves in that state of mind. The people who sit there "woe is me..." and cry and moan about every little thing that went wrong in their life. I think that's more of a deadly sin than the lazy. Hell, I'm lazy and it's not all that bad The little saying I made for her above is illustrated in the picture. It's hard to see on some monitors, but there's actually a raven perched on her shoulder looking down at her. Ravens represent death. You know how lots of people go through that mid-life crisis? They realize they're aging and suddenly decide to start doing productive things with their lives? Well that's what I was getting at. Even as she gets older, she never goes through that "mid-life" crisis (not even approaching death could rouse her to live.) Spider webs are all over her, suggesting she's been laying there for a while. Her eyes are partially open, so you know she's not asleep. She's laying there on her own free will. The setting is based on the book Dante's Inferno: a dead, desolate place. All of the seven deadly sins in my series are women because: A) Women are thought to be more "sinful" for over hundreds of years now. Don't get all woman-activist on me for saying that, I'm a woman myself - and no, I don't believe that "women are more sinful." I think people are people; neither sex is more sinful than the other. B) There are more women stock providers then men on deviantart. Sorry guys, but there's just not enough of you for me to use! A real friend can look at you when you have the biggest smile on your face and ask 'whats wrong?'
If You really love something,
it's better to set it free.
When it comes back to You
it'll be Yours forever.
