Flawed is she who is infaturated with the image of herself
Made for a project at school on the 7 Deadly Sins. This is the first of the 7-part series. All of these were printed out on a 42" sheet of paper, they all go together as one art piece, but for submitting purposes I've split them up into pieces. Symbolism The color purple was chosen because it typically is associated with royalty and upper class, and pride is often thought to be a flaw shared by them. The mirror symbolises the love she has for herself. She has sat herself on a pedestal. It's cracked because it will crumble and ultimately be her greatest downfall, (I would have preferred to make it bigger but I was restricted to a 6 x 6 canvas size). The setting is based on the book Dante's Inferno: a dead, desolate place. All of the seven deadly sins in my series are women because: A) Women are thought to be more "sinful" for over hundreds of years now. Don't get all woman-activist on me for saying that, I'm a woman myself - and no, I don't believe that "women are more sinful." I think people are people; neither sex is more sinful than the other. B) There are more women stock providers then men on deviantart. Sorry guys, but there's just not enough of you for me to use!
