7 Deadly Sins - Envy

She yearns for what she cannot possess
..but is intent on taking it

<sub>Made for a project at school on the 7 Deadly Sins. This is the second of the 7-part series.

Symbolism
I chose this model because of her pose: she's wrapped in a cloth and hunched over. The meaning I took from it is the cloth that's wrapped around her represents the envy that consumes her, and the hunching and onward-looking infers that she's completely bent over and obsessed with those she envies. The snake is often a symbol for envy, so I've incooporated a few of those into this piece. The skulls represent the people she has hurt because of her jealousy (represented by the snakes weaving through the bones), and inferring that she will go to any length to hurt those she is jealous of.

The setting is based on the book Dante's Inferno: a dead, desolate place.

All of the seven deadly sins in my series are women because:
A) Women are thought to be more "sinful" for over hundreds of years now. Don't get all woman-activist on me for saying that, I'm a woman myself - and no, I don't believe that "women are more sinful." I think people are people; neither sex is more sinful than the other.
B) There are more women stock providers then men on deviantart. Sorry guys, but there's just not enough of you for me to use!
